We are still in the middle of a heat wave over here and no air conditioner. Is it Fall yet? I do love my flip flops but I’m ready for boots and scarves already. I don’t know about you but by the end of summer, my feet need a little extra attention so I came up with this yummy foot balm. Aloe juice is great for the skin and helps with inflammation. Coconut oil is moisturizing and absorbs well but you could substitute with pure cocoa butter for a chocolate smell. The best part? Adding Peppermint and Wintergreen essential oils will actually cool the body down! Your feet will feet refreshed and not at all greasy. I’m in love. Here’s how I did it:
Pour 1 cup aloe juice into a measuring cup and allow to come to room temp. Add 5 drops doTERRA Wintergreen oil and 10 drops doTERRA Peppermint oil.
In a double boiler or a bowl set over simmering water, melt 1/2 cup beeswax and 1/2 cup coconut oil.
When the beeswax has melted, remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes or so, you don’t want the wax to harden too much. Pour into a blender and turn on low. Through the pour spot on top slowly add the aloe juice and essential oils in a steady stream. Blend for a minute, then scrape down the sides with a spatula. Be patient! This takes around 10 minutes and you will end up with this beautiful creamy balm.
It will be the texture of frosting and smell delicious! This recipe makes enough to almost fill two half pint mason jars. It’s important to use glass here because essential oils should never be stored in plastic. If desired, add cute labels and store in the fridge for an extra refreshing treat.
